Governor Abbott Pardons Daniel Perry, Who Defended Himself Against BLM

Governor Greg Abbott has pardoned Daniel Perry, the former Army sergeant who defended himself and was convicted of murdering an armed BLM protestor in Austin.

According to reports, it's the first time that a Texas Governor has pardoned someone for a serious crime or murder.

Abbott announced the pardon shortly after the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles announced it had made a unanimous recommendation that Perry be pardoned and have his firearms rights restored.

Perry was currently in state prison, serving a 25-year sentence since his conviction in 2023.

This is a developing story.
